The SCSA team have just run an activities week over the half term holiday for youngsters within the Bournemouth and Poole area. The activities were really well attended and positively received with up to 16 young people attending each day. Highlights include some sessions on wellbeing run by Dorset MIND, bowling, trips to Weymouth Sealife park and the New Forest Animal Park as well as time to socialise, relax and have fun together.
ICN recently received a visit from Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Faith. ICN staff were able to share with the minister the different areas of work that we do, both at the ICN building and in the wider community, and talk about the positive relationships we have with local authorities.
Staff recently went on their annual ‘Away Day’ at Greenhouse Christian Centre in Poole. This was a special day to team build and and to share our vision for the year ahead.
Thanks to the Dorset Skills and Learning course, ‘Refugee Families on the Farm’, six families enjoyed feeding the hens at Magdalen Farm, Winsham, Somerset, last weekend.
ICN continues to help Local Authorities in Dorset as they receive Syrian families under the government Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme. We are currently supporting nine (9) families under this scheme. We have a continuing need to find new homes for families arriving in 2019. We would love to hear from prospective landlords ASAP.
