At ICN we really value our volunteers.

Our needs are always changing. Opportunities could include driving support staff and/or young people and families to appointments; reception duties; teaching assistants for ESOL classrooms; looking after children in our creches or helping in our homework club.

Applying as a volunteer

**We value your interest in our organisation. However, due to current staff capacity, we are limited in our capacity to respond to volunteer applications. Many thanks for your patience while our responses may be slower than usual.** Currently, our area of significant need is for volunteers able to assist with our women and families program:

  • Female creche helpers to supervise 1.5-3 year-olds while their mothers attend English classes (Monday and Tuesday afternoons, term-time only)
  • Female ESOL teachers for our community women’s classes (Monday and Tuesday afternoons, term-time only)
  • Homework Club helpers – assistance with primary school set homework (Wednesday afternoons, term-time only)

Due to the sensitivity of the work we do at ICN in supporting vulnerable people, we have a robust volunteer application process. We welcome applications from all who would like to volunteer, but not all will be successful in applying. We have specific volunteering opportunities that are always changing due to the needs of those we support, so we cannot guarantee there will be a volunteering opportunity for all. We welcome your application as a small charity as we are regularly in need of volunteer support. We hope you understand the measures we have to put in place in order to ensure the volunteers we recruit are suitable for the position.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please follow these steps:

Firstly, we invite you to read more about who we are as a charity. We are a Christian charity, who work with people of all faiths and none. However, we would require volunteers to be sympathetic of and respectful of our Christian ethos.

Following the submission of your application, and if we feel you might be appropriate for a role with us, we would contact you to arrange a 20 minute interview with a relevant manager. This will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss what would be expected of the volunteer role, and what you can expect from us!

Next, if we are progressing your application, you will be required to undergo a DBS check and therefore provide relevant documentation to us. If you are successful, there may be some mandatory training you will be required to attend, dependent on the role taken up.

Still interested? Please complete the application form below, and we will be in touch!
